Alexander Wang at the Soho House Beach Tent

Remember when I told you that I’d done a silly thing and spent more money than I ever had at one time on one thing? Well, let me tell you the saga. It was New York Fashion week, my birthday had just passed. I was working like crazy. And I met a beautiful piece. We had a moment at the Alexander Wang Soho store. I thought about him for days after we first met. Just couldn’t put him out of my mind!

Then, my best friend showed up for a weekend in NYC after the fashion world had packed up to London. I dragged her to go scope him out with me. Next thing I knew, I’d done it. I’d like to think she pushed my hand, but truly it was a divine act. Although, unlike other impetuous moments, there was no regret. In fact, quite the contrary, I embraced him, held him close while we walked down the street—proud to be with him.

So in loving memory of my soho purchase, I brought Alex to Miami Art Basel, where I introduced him to The Soho House. Here is a shot of him enjoying the sun, the sand and the ambiance at the beach tent for Art Basel. I loved him even in a glitzy, rhinestone encrusted city. He fit in. I loved him even more.

That is the story, of how I caught the bug for deliciously abhorrent spending.
